Choosing to Murder Children

Jesus called for them, saying, “Permit the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
—Luke 18:16

Have you ever noticed that whenever people talk about a woman’s right to choose they never complete the sentence? When we talk about a woman’s right to choose, we’re talking about a woman’s right to choose to murder her child. That’s what abortion is: the right to choose the murder of a child.

During his run for president in 2008, Obama boasted, “Throughout my career I have been a consistent and strong supporter of reproductive justice.” Isn’t that a nice euphemism? Reproductive justice. That means abortion. And abortion means the murder of children. So let me insert that in his quote. “Throughout my career I have been a consistent and strong supporter of murdering children.”

Now, I want to say something very clearly. I have a certain viewpoint about certain issues. For example, personally, I think lower taxes are better than higher taxes. But I would never dare say that is a biblical position. I can argue taxes either way from the Bible. It’s the same way about universal health care. I can use the Bible to either argue for or against universal health care. I think one of the big mistakes conservatives make is trying to make political issues biblical issues.

I think we ought to allow for diversity among Christians in secondary issues such as taxes, health care, and climate change. We shouldn’t make every political issue a biblical issue. But I will tell you without hesitating that when it comes to abortion there is only one biblical position. God hates abortion. God hates the murder of children. Now, I would not presume to tell you which candidate you should vote for. But you need to know that when you vote for certain candidates you are voting for the murder of children.

You may say, “Pastor, you may be right about abortion, but that’s just one issue. We have to look at the big picture when we vote for a president. Abortion is just one issue.” Granted, it is just one issue. But can anyone tell me of an issue that is any more important than the protection of the unborn? Is there any position on taxes? Is there any position on climate change? Is there any position on health care that is any more important than preventing the murder of children? That is why this is going to be a signal issue in the next election. All you have to do is look at history to see how God deals with a nation that treats its children with cruelty, a nation that murders its own children. It doesn’t take much imagination to see what God’s attitude is toward a nation like ours that allows tens of millions of children to be murdered.
