His name will be called Wonderful Counselor.
–Isaiah 9:6
Isaiah said, “His name will be called Wonderful Counselor” (9:6). Jesus Christ possesses all of the wisdom of God because He is God. Jesus knows everything about this world, and He knows everything about your world.
Do you realize Jesus knows everything about your past? There is nothing you can hide from Him. He knows everything about your present situation. He is intimately aware of what is going on in your life right now. And He knows about your future as well. Jesus knows about your past, your present, and your future because He has planned your past, your present, and your future. That’s why Jesus Christ is the only reliable guide for our lives. He has deposited all of His wisdom in the Word of God. Jesus Christ can be trusted because He is God. He can be trusted to navigate us through this life and to lead us into the next life.
Let’s look at a few verses about the eternal wisdom of Jesus Christ our Lord:
- “Your word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against You” (Psalm 119:11).
- “Teach me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes, and I shall observe it to the end. Give me understanding, that I may observe Your law and keep it with all my heart. Make me walk in the path of Your commandments, for I delight in it” (Psalm 119:33-35).
- “Open my eyes, that I may behold wonderful things from Your law” (Psalm 119:18).
Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah,
Pilgrim through this barren land;
I am weak, but Thou art mighty;
Hold me with Thy powerful hand.
Bread of heaven, Bread of heaven,
Feed me till I want no more;
Feed me till I want no more.
When I tread the verge of Jordan,
Bid my anxious fears subside;
Death of death, and hell’s destruction,
Land me safe on Canaan’s side.
Songs of praises, songs of praises,
I will ever give to Thee;
I will ever give to Thee.
