You shall have no other gods before Me.
Whenever you renounce the true God it always leads to the embracing and even elevation of other gods over the true God. And that’s what is happening in our country today. Let me give you a few examples of that. Recently, the Poway Unified School District in San Diego ordered a math teacher to take down two banners in his classroom that referred to God. One said, “In God We Trust”—which appears on our national currency—and the other said, “God Bless America”—which is the usual sign-off phrase of American presidents. The school board ordered the removal of those banners because they “over-emphasize God” and “might make a Muslim student uncomfortable.” Why would a Muslim object to “In God We Trust”? Because every Muslim knows Allah and God are not the same god. Ironically, the school board did not object to images of Buddha and a poster of Muslim leader Malcolm X in other classrooms.
For more than 15 years, New York City’s education department fought to keep Christian congregations from renting space from schools for Sunday worship, in spite of the fact the United States said that renting government property to religious groups does not violate any law. The Hawaii State Legislature recently designated September 24 as Islam Day to foster awareness of and education about Islam. One can only wonder when the Hawaii Legislature is going to designate Christian Day. Don’t hold your breath. The University of California Hastings College of Law threatened to discontinue recognizing the Christian Legal Society as a legitimate student organization with the right to meet on campus because the group’s opposition to homosexuality violates the university’s anti-discrimination policy. In contrast to the intolerance many universities have toward the beliefs of tradition-minded Christians, George Washington University is willing to bend over backward to accommodate the beliefs of Muslim students. In 2009, they opened up a female-only hour at the pool to accommodate Muslim women. Every week the university covers the glass door with a dark tarp, allowing female Muslim students to swim at their leisure. Other universities, such as MIT and Harvard, are giving preferential treatment toward Muslim students.
God is no respecter of people or of nations. The nation that honors God will be blessed by God, but the nation that rejects God will be judged by God. Now, I realize that suggesting that God is going to punish our nation because of the worship of other gods is politically incorrect in today’s culture of diversity. But what we call diversity, God calls idolatry. The First Commandment is “You shall have no other gods before Me” (Exodus 20:3). If God is unchanging, then so is God’s attitude toward any nation that renounces Him and embraces other gods—making America’s coming collapse inevitable.
